2018 Csábítás fegyvere, Kieselbach Galéria
In 2018 the Kieselbach Galéria in Budapest mounted Csábítás fegyvere (“The Weapon of Seduction: fashion, style, and dress in a hundred years of Hungarian painting”), with a catalogue by Molnos Péter (/bibliography#molnos-2018).
Rauscher in the exhibition
The show set Rauscher among a century of Hungarian painters concerned with dress, style, and the surfaces of modern life, a frame that suits the art-deco society work of his Berlin years (see /biography/berlin-years).
The Kieselbach Galéria has handled several Rauscher works on the market, including the Öltönyös férfi kaktusszal (Man in Suit with Cactus), and its catalogue essays are among the recent sources placing him in the context of the international New Objectivity (see /methodology on the archive’s use of auction-house material).
