1926 Tavaszi Szalon, Budapest
The 1926 Tavaszi Szalon (Spring Salon) of the Szinyei Társaság, held at the Nemzeti Szalon in Budapest from late May into June, was the exhibition at which the Hungarian press first took serious notice of György Rauscher (/bibliography#szamado-2019, p. 11).
Reception
The show was reviewed in Színházi Élet and, with a published correction, in Pesti Napló (/bibliography#pesti-naplo-1926-05). Magyar Grafika had already introduced Rauscher to its readers earlier in the year (see /publications/magyar-grafika).
It marks the start of Rauscher’s Budapest reputation, and the moment his New Objectivity manner reached a wider public (see /biography/hungarian-years).
