Berlin society sitters, 1928-1930
As a Scherl Verlag illustrator, György Rauscher portrayed a number of Berlin society women whose portraits appeared as colour lithographs in Sport im Bild between 1928 and 1930. They are gathered on this group page because each is documented chiefly through the Rauscher portrait itself; the publication is described at /publications/sport-im-bild, and the period at /biography/berlin-years.
The sitters
Gina Lepsius, wife of Dr. Richard Lepsius. Her portrait (Lepsiusné) appeared in Sport im Bild on 26 January 1929 and is catalogue no. 74 of the 1935 estate exhibition.
Baroness Nina Baehr. Her portrait appeared as a Sport im Bild interior plate on 22 February 1929. A “Baer bárónő” portrait (Berlin) is also listed as catalogue no. 3, and the two may be the same sitter.
Baroness Vendla von Langenn (née von Grumme-Douglas, 1903 to 1979). Her portrait (Langenn bárónő) appeared in Sport im Bild on 13 June 1929 and is catalogue no. 81.
Countess Barbara von Kalkreuth (1905 to 1997), herself a sculptor. Her portrait (Kalckreuth grófnő) appeared in Sport im Bild on 1 May 1929 and is catalogue no. 76; Számadó notes that she was at the time portraying the German crown prince.
Georgia Lindt. Her portrait appeared in Sport im Bild on 8 August 1929 and is catalogue no. 68.
The individual printed works are catalogued at /printed-works, and the lithograph entries appear in the 1935 estate catalogue as numbers 68 to 86. All are documented in Számadó 2019 (/bibliography#szamado-2019, pp. 23-33).
