Önarckép (Self-Portrait), 1927

Önarckép (Self-Portrait) is a 1927 self-portrait by György Rauscher, worked in ink and wash.

The painter is shown head-and-shoulders in a suit with a striped tie, the face built up in fluid grey washes over dark drawn lines. It is signed, dated 1927, and inscribed “Komárom” at the lower right.

It belongs with the run of at least six self-portraits gathered for the 1935 estate exhibition (see /biography/hungarian-years).
