B.-né asszony arcképe (Portrait of Mrs B.)
B.-né asszony arcképe (Portrait of Mrs B.) is a portrait painting by György Rauscher known only from a period newspaper reproduction.
In the reproduction an elderly woman sits with her hands folded in her lap, in dark clothing against a plain ground, the treatment sober and restrained.
The clipping is captioned B.-né asszony arcképe and describes the work as a painting by Rauscher “which caused a sensation at the Nemzeti Szalon spring exhibition,” that is, the 1926 Tavaszi Szalon (see /exhibitions/1926-tavaszi-szalon). The sitter, “Mrs B.,” is not identified; she may be the Vajda Béláné whose portrait Gálig records (/bibliography#galig-2013).
