Polgár Boriska portréja (Portrait of Polgár Boriska)
Polgár Boriska portréja (Portrait of Polgár Boriska) is a 1927 oil painting by György Rauscher. It is number 41 in the 1935 estate catalogue.
The sitter, in round spectacles and with dark bobbed hair, sits on a pale block in a dark long-sleeved dress, a bundle of brushes held upright in her hands. Behind her a ledge carries a white jug and a small dark-framed picture. The forms are firm and plastic and the setting reduced to geometric blocks, in Rauscher’s New Objectivity manner. It is signed at the lower right.
It belongs to the portraits of the Budapest artistic and literary circle that run through Rauscher’s Hungarian years (see /biography/hungarian-years).
