Alakok (Figures)
Alakok (Figures) is a work in oil and pastel on cardboard by György Rauscher.
A man and a woman move through an open autumn landscape. The woman, at the left, wears a long pale dress with an ochre collar and carries a round object low in one hand; the man, at the right, strides in yellow trousers with his upper body dark and his arms raised, a load across his shoulders. A slender bare tree stands at the right, with rolling hills and a clouded sky behind. The figures are built up in the same heavy, sculptural modelling as the artist’s other late-1920s work. It is signed at the lower right, RGY.
The painting was offered at the Virág Judit Galéria 67th autumn auction in 2021 (lot 16).
