Önarckép (Self-Portrait)

Önarckép (Self-Portrait) is an undated oil self-portrait by György Rauscher.

It is a head-and-shoulders self-portrait, the painter’s face turned a little to one side and lit against a dark ground, in a white-collared shirt. It is sombre and closely worked in oil.

It is one of the several self-portraits Rauscher made across his career (see /biography/hungarian-years); whether it corresponds to one of the undescribed Önarckép entries in the 1935 catalogue (nos. 40 or 43) is not established.
