Zsolt Béla portréja (Portrait of Zsolt Béla)
Zsolt Béla portréja (Portrait of Zsolt Béla) is a 1929 portrait by György Rauscher of the writer Zsolt Béla, a distant kinsman of the painter, held at the Komáromi Klapka György Múzeum. It is number 66 in the 1935 estate catalogue.
In the version reproduced in the monograph, the writer is shown head-and-shoulders, turned slightly aside, the face and dark hair drawn in fluid dark line over a warm tan ground, with a wash of green for his necktie and the jacket only summarily indicated. It is signed at the lower right.
It belongs to the strand of cultivated-bourgeois portraits, the writers and intellectuals, that runs through Rauscher’s work (see /biography/hungarian-years). The kinship between painter and sitter ran through the Komárom Milch family (see /sitters/zsolt-bela).
